One or two of the characters are also beginning to wear a little thin. This is not one of those for-dummies type of photography books. The only regret I have is that I cannot give Hard Magic a rating higher than 5 measly stars. The author occasionally drifts into an anecdote about his career as a firemen and paramedic which is equally amusing. For those doing creative re-enactment (SCA, Renn faires), this is an essential reference for growing and using natural dye plants. And I feel this book has some really good advice as to why this works. For example:"The man lived and breathed swordsmanship because from the man's glances Orochi could tell he was about to ask about Orochi's blade"That is a horrible sentence. It's alternately a historical review of insect warfare, a conspiracy theory on government cover-ups, and a modern drama about terrorism. The writing is amazing!! Even thinking about it makes me laugh! The second story, Teeth is Teeth is hilarious as well but completely different than the first. It is absolutely full of extremely well done cutaway drawings that do a great job of explaining the concepts being presented. Almost. This is a fine introduction into his thought through the medium of an important topic.
